Coaches Association of Ontario releases Ontario Coaching Report Card 2022

TORONTO – July 21, 2022 – The Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO), in partnership with the
University of Toronto, is proud to announce the release of the 2022 Ontario Coaching Report Card. This first-of-its-kind study into the landscape of coaching in Ontario
comes after having surveyed coaches from all sports and contexts across the province about their experiences and feelings on their
coaching careers.

The goal of the research project was to learn from coaches to help make coaching and sport better for everyone. In 2021, a comprehensive online survey was distributed to coaches across the province, through CAO, the Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) and other stakeholders, asking Ontario coaches to share their coaching experiences.

Questions asked included coaches’ demographics and status, satisfaction with different aspects of coaching, including their personal well-being, education and training, supports and resources, and the impact of COVID-19.

The report shares the most important findings with Ontario’s coaches and sport leaders.

“We’re excited to share this report with the sector as well as the general public to shine a light on the thoughts and opinions of coaches from grassroots to high performance,” says CAO’s Executive Director, Jeremy Cross. “The report highlights how volunteer and paid coaches feel about their role, the challenges they face, where they see gaps in the system, and so much more.”
